Here at Welding Supplies Direct Ltd we are enthusiastic over many things, Innovation and Art being just two examples. If you ever browse the internet using the search term ‘Steel Art’ then you will unearth quite a few companies and artists dealing in this medium. We did just that and came across an artist by the name of Christopher Townsend. We were fascinated by the work he was producing and got in touch to see if we could form a working partnership. Christopher is very successful within his field, and has even had a review in Home and Garden Magazine. His work is growing in popularity and we hope that awareness of Steel Art continues to grow also. We were very lucky that he accepted our offer and we are now very proud to be supplying Christopher with supplies for his art.
Obviously as a welding supplies company we frequently see our supplies being put to good use on factory floors and in workshops all over the country, from small hobbyists to large-scale productions and we have a strong sense of pride in being able to provide them. But as appreciators of Art it is amazing to see someone weld in order to produce an object of beauty. A process that is seen as being very functional, masculine and somehow raw doesn’t always seem to fit with turning out delicate, intricate items to be showcased in a beautiful home or garden. The fact that any artist can do this is quite simply remarkable.
The skill of Welding – and indeed it IS a skill – is deeply undervalued in any capacity. Any worker able to weld and produce seamless effects is worthy of note regardless of where they produce their work or in what manner. However, it is unlikely that unless you are an enthusiast you are going to frequently see examples of such work without specifically looking for it. Few of us will ever enter a factory just to watch someone do a spot of welding and appreciate their craftsmanship! So being able to see, right there in front of you, an item that has been subject to a welding process and looks so flawless and magnificent is wonderful.
Christopher’s work is absolutely stunning and again we have a sense of pride in being able to support his efforts in whatever small way we can. We sincerely hope that the partnership we have formed is able to continue long into the future, as on a personal level it is fascinating to see his artistry develop. We truly look forward to seeing his latest pieces as and when they appear.
